Intuition Robotics Inc. today announced the launch of the ElliQ Caregiver Solution, which uses artificial intelligence to help provide care for older adults. The offering includes the ElliQ companion robot and the Caregiver App for remotely managing and monitoring care.

“Together, these tools create a holistic system that enables caregivers to stay informed, connected, and actively engaged in their loved ones’ care, even from afar,” said the Palo Alto, Calif.-based company.

Intuition Robotics said it is dedicated to empowering older adults to lead independent, connected lives through the development of AI-driven companions. The company’s flagship product, ElliQ, is designed to provide emotional support, cognitive stimulation, and health and wellness assistance to older adults around the world.

Intuition Robotics announced ElliQ3 with generative AI capabilities a year ago. A July 2024 study found that ElliQ users reported more engagement and activity with the tabletop ElliQ than with a tablet.

Intuition Robotics offers AI help to home care

About 48 million adults in the U.S. provide unpaid care to another adult, according to Intuition Robotics. Studies show that more 60% of caregivers experience burnout, compounded by spending an average of 26% of their personal income on caregiving expenses, it said. Many also reduce their work hours or leave the workforce entirely, resulting in significant income loss and diminished retirement savings.

Intuition Robotics asserted that it has added AI to its robot to help caregivers remotely manage care and free them to focus on meaningful quality time.

“Previously, ElliQ was celebrated for proven results as a companion for older adults. Now, it’s also an essential tool for caregivers, providing updates, connection, and proactive support,” stated Dor Skuler, founder and CEO of Intuition Robotics.

“We are proud to bring the power of AI to caregivers,” he added. “Our newest solution will help to alleviate caregiver stress by offering a solution that keeps them informed and engaged while empowering their loved ones to live more independently with an AI live-in caregiver.”

ElliQ Caregiver Solution takes ‘holistic’ approach

The ElliQ Caregiver Solution enables caregivers to track their loved ones’ health and activity, set personalized care goals that are promoted by ElliQ at the home, and receive proactive updates powered by AI-driven insights.

ElliQ serves as both a companion and a care assistant, delivering daily support to older adults and alerting caregivers to significant changes in health or behavior. This ensures caregivers can manage care effectively, even when they cannot be physically present, claimed Intuition Robotics.

“Unlike standalone apps, ElliQ’s holistic approach focuses on the older adult’s entire care network, using AI to optimize interactions and deliver meaningful support,” it said.

By automating routine monitoring, care management, and communication, ElliQ enables caregivers to maintain emotional connections rather than be consumed by logistical tasks, Intuition Robotics said.

“The ElliQ Caregiver Solution represents a breakthrough in aging and remote care, providing a vital resource for caregivers and older adults alike,” said the company. “With this launch, Intuition Robotics continues its mission to revolutionize the way we approach aging, empowering caregivers and fostering independence for older adults.”

“Caregivers are the invisible backbone of our economy … yet they are often overwhelmed, under-supported, and overlooked,” said Alexandra Drane, co-founder and CEO of Archangels. “We came to know, and appreciate, what ElliQ is doing to help equip this population with the resources they need to thrive. Supporting the close to one in two of us serving as unpaid caregivers is not just the right thing to do – it’s a no-brainer.”
