Today’s autonomous vehicle fleets are successfully addressing pain points in geographically remote or rugged locations. Everyday, the technology is improving worker safety and operational efficiency. But, in the next 10 years, we’ll see a massive leap forward in field robotics, according to Mel Torrie, the founder and CEO of Autonomous Solutions Inc., or ASI.

Meet field robotics veteran Mel Torrie

Mel Torrie.Mel Torrie is a global leader in vendor-agnostic vehicle automation. With over two decades of robotics leadership, he has pioneered autonomous technologies across the mining, agriculture, construction, and logistics industries.

Torrie grew up on a farm in Alberta, Canada, which motivated him to get an education and automate his tractors. He earned an MS degree in electrical engineering at Utah State University and began robotics research 28 years ago.

Torrie and his team founded ASI in 2000 and have bootstrapped the company through partnerships with the world’s largest field robotics OEMs.
