ForwardX Robotics closes $61 Million in Round C funding

By Mike Oitzman | July 18, 2023

ForwardX Robotics, a global leader in vision-based AMR technology, is thrilled to announce the successful completion of its latest funding round, positioning the company as a dominant player in the global market and an orchestration engine for end-to-end automation. With this round which closed on July 7th, ForwardX Robotics has raised a substantial amount of funding, marked as $30 million and bringing the series C total to $61 million, which will be instrumental in further accelerating the company’s growth and expanding its presence across the globe. Collectively, ForwardX has raised about $140 million since its founding in 2016.

The company has solidified its position as the globe’s number two provider of assisted picking and material handling solutions, having deployed over 150 commercial projects and 3,000 robots across four continents. Its comprehensive solutions encompass various applications in material handling, picking, docking, and storage management, revolutionizing warehousing and manufacturing operations on a global scale.

This funding round is yet another indicator of the growth potential for ForwardX and the industry at large. Investors have demonstrated their confidence in ForwardX Robotics’ vision and aptitude for disruptive innovation in the automation space. The company’s cutting-edge technologies and forward-thinking approach have garnered immense success, with successful deployments for esteemed companies such as L’Oreal, IKEA, SF DHL, UNIQLO, Walmart, Orbis, Mitsubishi, JD Logistics, Chery, BYD, and more. These partnerships have proven the value of ForwardX Robotics’ solutions in driving efficiency, productivity, and operational excellence across various sectors.

In the warehousing and logistics space, ForwardX covers each picking, case picking, and hybrid picking workflows. Its f(x) Fleet Manager commands fleets of hundreds of AMRs and Apex autonomous forklifts to provide full end-to-end automation solutions. Customers like SF DHL have seen picking efficiency improvements of up to 200%.

For the manufacturing and automotive industry, ForwardX has developed conveyor tops, lifting modules, and tugging AMRs. TCL deployed Flex AMRs with a lifting module for line-side delivery, and the project marked the world’s first 5G AMR deployment earning ForwardX the RBR50 Innovation Award. Chery recently deployed over 100 ForwardX AMRs from across the product family lines including Flex, Apex, and Lynx as one unified fleet to support its automotive Super Factory that produces over 300,000 vehicles and 200,000 KD units per year.

The company is dedicated to delivering transformational results to its customers and empowering businesses to thrive in the era of automation. ForwardX is the world leader in terms of vision-based AMR products available for commercial use with autonomous forklifts, tugger AMRs, conveyor top AMRs, and more. Its Flex, Max, Apex, and Lynx product families are developed with specific pain points and workflows in mind, making ForwardX the only end-to-end solutions provider across industries.

CEO Nicolas Chee expressed his enthusiasm about the latest round of funding, stating, “Our success in securing this funding reflects the positive momentum we have built over the past few years. ForwardX Robotics has experienced substantial growth across key markets, and we are excited to expand our footprint globally. This funding will propel our efforts to supply solutions to our partners and end users in North America, Europe, Asia, and Australia.”

ForwardX Robotics is poised to revolutionize the industry as an orchestrating engine for end-to-end automation. The company’s innovative solutions, diverse range of vehicles, and unmatched expertise in AI-driven fleet management software and vision-first Autonomous Mobile Robots (AMRs), enable customers to optimize their supply chain operations, enhance productivity, and adapt to the dynamic demands of the industry.
