ADLINK Technology Inc. today announced its edge computing platform for artificial intelligence is now fully compatible with the perception development kit developed by LIPS Corp. and based on NVIDIA Isaac Perceptor. The company said it has integrated them with the LIPSedge AE Active Stereo 3D camera series for developers of mobile robots and AI vision applications in manufacturing and warehouse logistics.

The ADLINK DLAP-411-Orin provides the edge computing for the LIPSAMR Perception DevKit. Together, the two systems deliver the hardware stack necessary for the onboard perception functions of an autonomous mobile robot (AMR).

“We are excited to partner with LIPS on the AMR 3D x AI Perception Solution, integrating LIPS’ 3D cameras with our DLAP-411-Orin and leveraging the features of NVIDIA Isaac Perceptor,” said Ethan Chen, general manager of ADLINK’s Edge Computing Platform business unit. “This collaboration enhances AMRs with perception and navigation, enabling autonomous operations across industrial applications.”

Edge platform promises AMR performance

ADLINK described features in its edge computing platform:

AI computing performance: The DLAP-411-Orin, with the NVIDIA Jetson AGX Orin module, delivers up to 275 trillion operations per second (TOPS) of edge AI computing power. It supports multi-camera synchronization for vision applications.

3D vision: The LIPSAMR Perception DevKit for the NVIDIA Isaac platform includes DLAP-411-Orin and LIPSedge AE Active Stereo 3D cameras. It provides 3D depth sensing and image capture with one or multiple cameras, enhancing robotic systems with a wider field of view and higher resolution than lidar, claimed ADLINK.

Designed for AMRs: The LIPSAMR Perception DevKit supports NVIDIA Isaac ROS for building AMR applications. This enables AI-driven depth sensing, 3D occupancy grid mapping, and stereo visual odometry, helping developers with complex tasks such as payload extraction and placement, said the company.

Plug-and-play: The LIPSAMR Perception DevKit, which combines cameras with the DLAP-411-Orin, has passed NVIDIA certification. ADLINK said it can be integrated into robotic systems, shortening development time.

ADLINK, LIPS describe application scenarios

Equipped with the LIPSedge AE Active Stereo 3D camera series, the DLAP-411-Orin delivers 3D perception capabilities, said ADLINK. The company added that it is suitable for industrial applications such as automated quality inspection in manufacturing, material handling and sorting in warehouse logistics, and outdoor inspection and cleaning maintenance.

In addition, the new platform and cameras can improve robot navigation and environmental interaction, it said.

“We are pleased to collaborate with NVIDIA and ADLINK,” said Luke Liu, CEO of LIPS Corp. “The DLAP-411-Orin platform from ADLINK, combined with LIPS’ LIPSedge 3D camera, complements NVIDIA Isaac Perceptor, offering a LIPSAMR Perception DevKit. This integration addresses challenges customers face in AMR integration.”
