KUKA Robotics launches version 4.0 of its KUKA.sim simulation software this week. The KUKA.sim 4.0 version features new capabilities including: KRL editor for advanced offline programming, 3D safety zone configuration, advanced I/O signal editor, robot stopping distance simulation, and WorkVisual project export.
Simulation saves time and money when developing and maintaining automation projects. With a digital twin of the robotic workcell, a developer can program the robot and verify that the application operates as expected.
KUKA.sim enables offline programming of a robot and the IO, even if the physical workcell has not yet been assembled. This saves time during the application development cycle because the software team can start programming while peripherals and components are being ordered and shipped. It also means that a robotic integrator can remotely troubleshoot and update robot programs without being physically present at the end customer facility.
KUKA.sim 4.0 adds support for KUKA SCARA and KUKA delta robots.
KUKA.sim is now the perfect companion for robot programming education
KUKA.sim makes it simple to import CAD models of the robots, conveyors and other workcell elements into the virtual world. KUKA.sim can import all of the standard CAD formats (CATIA V5, V6, JT, STEP, 2D RealDWG, etc.)
KUKA.sim 4.0 now includes an advanced I/O signal editor that enables the simulation of real world situations. It also included both a simple and an advanced edition of the KUKA KRL programming language emulation. This makes KUKA.sim useful for both the setup and maintenance of actual robot workcell, as well as a tool for training new programmers (without the worry of destroying physical equipment). Once the program is developed and verified in simulation, it’s a simple process to export it and take it directly to the physical robotic workcell.
The Modeling add-on expands the basic functionality of KUKA.Sim 4.0 and makes it possible to create an individual component library from your own CAD data: with kinematic systems, sensors, signals, material flow or physical behavior. For even more realistic behavior simulation.
KUKA mobile viewer puts simulation in the palm of your hand
KUKA.sim also works with the KUKA mobile viewer app for your smart phone or tablet. This enables you to export a virtual workcell and robot to the mobile app to demonstrate your system concepts virtually – a highlight at any trade fair for your product presentations.
