I’m not a golfer. Just can’t get the hang of it. Driving, short game, putting. None of those are in my arsenal.
Especially putting. I constantly miss 4-6 footers and end up 3 putting for a double bogey. It’s a very frustrating game.
If only I had this putting robot from Universal Robots. The company attached a putter to the end of its UR5 robot arm and challenged some talented golfers to a putting competition.

Not surprisingly, the UR5 has quite the consistent swing, which is probably the most important part of golf. Just ask Tiger Woods.
Now, granted, the putt looks pretty straightforward as the practice green is flat. I say let’s put a vision system on this thing and bring it out to the Wells Fargo Championship this weekend and put it to the test against some tough greens and the world’s best golfers.
You might remember Universal Robots from CES 2015. They teamed up with Empire Robotics to create a beer pong robot that challenged humans in Las Vegas. And just like this putting robot, the UR5 dominated at CES as well.
