The GoPro Karma drone will finally make its debut on Sept. 19, according to a video the company tweeted. Watch the video above, it’s pretty interesting to see how low the drone is flying.
We don’t know much about the GoPro Karma drone, but it will likely feature the new Hero 5 camera that’s coming soon. GoPro says the Hero 5 camera is “the most connected and convenient” camera it has ever made.
CEO Nick Woodman first teased a GoPro drone in May 2015 when he called a quadcopter the “ultimate GoPro accessory.” GoPro said it’s drone would be out in the first half of 2016, but to no avail. Hopefully it’s worth the wait.
GoPro released the first video (watch below) captured by its Karma drone in late 2015. The two-minute video, which you can watch above, was captured with a “developmental prototype of GoPro’s quadcopter and stabilization system.” GoPro also notes that the video “has not been stabilized in post-production.”
Nothing has been confirmed, but it’s rumored GoPro enlisted the help of DJI to build the drone. DJI and GoPro were once in negotiations to build a drone together. Due to disagreements about the business plan, however, a deal was never reached.
