Intuitive Surgical Korea signed a memorandum of understanding with GE Healthcare Korea aimed at improving the clinical applications of robotic-assisted surgery.
Under the agreement, GE Healthcare Korea will provide its CS600 anesthesia machine, which supports multiple ventilation modes tailored to patients, and its patient monitoring technologies as well as needed training and services assistance to Intuitive Surgical Korea’s Da Vinci Training Center.
“We are glad to introduce our advanced medical technologies, including CS600 series, to a broader range of healthcare professionals through this agreement,” Andrew Berthusen, general manager of GE Healthcare APAC CCS, said in a statement. “We will keep collaborating with various partners and be a part of the driving growth behind Korea’s advanced medical technology.”
Intuitive Surgical Korea is known for its da Vinci surgical robot that performs minimally invasive operations. The company plans to place seven systems in its Center for Surgical Innovation at the Digital Media City in Seoul, where medical professionals receive training in robot-assisted surgery.
The agreement will support the continued development of robotic surgical systems through the combination of the two companies’ technologies.
“The effectiveness of advanced medical technologies, including robotic-assisted surgery, is being proven in various fields of disease,” Intuitive Surgical Korea CEO Sohn Seung-wan said. “We hope to offer benefits of those technologies to a broader range of patients by embracing GE’s medical solutions.”
