Five Elements Robotics will be showing at CES 2017 its new 5e NannyBot, which is designed to help parents remotely monitor their kids.
The robot uses sonar to follow kids around and stream a live audio/video feed back to the parent’s cell phone or computer. Parents can remotely drive the robot indoors and outdoors (during good weather) to see a larger picture of the children’s environment.
The 5e NannyBot will be available the second week of January 2017 for $1800.
Think of it as a telepresence babysitter, of sorts, and a new application for the company’s Budgee robot. The two robots look nearly identical, but Five Elements CEO Wendy Roberts tells Robotics Trends that “we opened the head and installed a camera and tied Bluetooth into the robotic controls.”
Nannybot is three feet tall, has a rechargeable battery that lasts for about eight hours, and comes with an optional basket to hold children’s toys. Roberts says 5e Nannybot is available with many different language options and has customizable messages that it can say to your children.
“Parents are going to love the freedom and flexibility this robot will add to their lives,” says CEO Wendy Roberts.
Five Elements is located at booth 41753 inside the Robotics Marketplace at CES 2017, which is in the Sands, Level 2, Halls A-D.
The company also officially introduced its Dash robot shopping cart that will follow customers around stores, help them find items on their shopping list, check them out, and carry items out to their car. We first learned about Dash in June 2016, and the update officially says Dash is expected to be available in stores in 2017.
Dash was a collaboration between Five Elements and Walmart, of course. But today’s update doesn’t specify what stores Dash is expected to be available in.
We’ll pass along more information when we swing by Five Elements’ booth in Las Vegas.
