Universal Robots A/S, a leading developer of collaborative robot arms, announced this week that its long-time partner Technicon is now officially a UR global Certified Solution Provider for the pharmaceutical industry. Technicon is a Nordic automation company, specializing in the design, development, and implementation of compact automated systems for the life science industry.

“Technicon’s transition to Certified Solution Provider [CSP] marks a new milestone in our collaboration and reinforces our shared commitment to delivering advanced automation solutions across the pharmaceutical sector and beyond,” said Jean Pierre Hathout, president of Universal Robots (UR).

“The company’s deep industry expertise, and customer-first mindset give customers tailored, end-to-end solutions — from design and engineering to deployment and service,” Technicon’s approach brings the precision and quality expected in highly regulated industries like pharma.”

A UR distributor and integrator in Denmark since 2019, Technicon is a vertically integrated engineering company. It designs, develops, and produces automation systems in-house.

Technicon said it has extensive experience integrating UR’s cobots into automated systems for the pharmaceutical industry. This includes optimizing fill and finish lines, improving lab quality control, and strengthening packaging and assembly.

In addition to being a global pharma CSP, Technicon will continue to deliver integrated cobots for Danish industrial companies.

“We consider Technicon’s new position as UR global Certified Solution Provider as the obvious next step corresponding perfectly with our overall growth strategy,” stated Casper Hansen, Technicon CEO. “The CSP role will enhance Technicon’s strong ability to provide a wider range of international pharmaceutical companies with world-class solutions effectively combating challenges within highly complex manufacturing processes and value chains.”

Teradyne sees leadership changes

UR is part of Teradyne Robotics, a division of Teradyne, which also includes autonomous mobile robot (AMR) developer Mobile Industrial Robots (MiR). Earlier this week, Ujjwal Kumar, the president of Teradyne Robotics, announced he would be leaving his position. He will remain with the company through September 2025 to help his successor, Jean-Pierre Hathout, transition into the role.

Teradyne has struggled this year to match previous years’ revenue. For example, the group generated $75 million in the second quarter of 2025, representing a 17% year-over-year decline. UR remained the primary moneymaker by bringing in $63 million, or 84% of the group’s revenue for the quarter.

Earlier this year, Teradyne Robotics laid off about 10% of its workforce, citing the need to align operations with market conditions. The group has also undergone leadership transitions at both UR and MiR, moves the company said are aimed at sharpening strategic focus and improving execution across both businesses.

UR will be showing off its fabrication automation systems at FABTECH 2025 in Chicago next week. The Odense, Denmark-based company will be at Booth B13045. UR said it plans to debut a new cobot model at the show.

“Designed to excel under pressure—whether on long seams, complex parts, or repetitive passes—this new model will showcase how UR robots are not just keeping pace with industry demands but setting the benchmark for what’s possible,” Hathout said.
