Teraki, a company developing last-mile delivery robots, and DriveU.auto announced that Teraki’s robots are integrated with DriveU.auto’s connectivity platform for teleoperation.

DriveU.auto’s platform is already being put to work in Teraki’s operational European fleet of delivery robots. The goal of the partnership is to accelerate the deployment of autonomous robots and vehicles through teleoperation first.

“The past two years have ushered in the ‘age of delivery’, in which Teraki and its partners play a key role. Our embedded, pre-processing AI-software, combined with DriveU’s state-of-the-art teleoperation offering for robots and autonomous driving in cities has passed rigid safety tests and been proven and implemented with top companies,” Daniel Richart, co-founder and CEO of Teraki, said. “Our robots ensure efficient and emission-free last-mile deliveries that solve main last-mile delivery challenges such as courier shortages and negative unit economics.”

The collaboration combines Teraki’s Edge pre-processing algorithms and DriveU.auto’s software-based connectivity platform. The result is a product offering that is available to Teraki’s selected partners.

For successful teleoperation, a fast and uninterrupted transmission of the robot’s video stream is key. Robots communicate with remote operators over public cellular networks, and DriveU.auto’s platform ensures seamless connection.

DriveU.auto’s platform is able to scale up to thousands of delivery robots via a cloud-based implementation.

“We are extremely proud to name Teraki as our partner and customer. Accelerating the wide-scale deployment of robots and autonomous vehicles is a herculean effort that is being achieved through a concentrated effort of technology partners,” Alon Podhurst, CEO of DriveU.auto, said. “Teleoperation is a key enabling technology for commercial deployment of robots and autonomous vehicles, demanding a best-in-class approach in multiple disciplines. We share this vision with Teraki, and are already seeing market demand and traction for our joint offering.”

Teraki’s robots also utilize Qualcomm’s robotics platforms, which bring advanced AI and 5G connectivity to robotics, drones and intelligent machines.

The company has partnerships with Domino’s Pizza in Berlin and Foodora in Stockholm. TERAKI’s self driving technology can be used in a variety of different applications, such as autonomous vehicles, trains and delivery robots.
