Tata Consultancy Services, or TCS, this week announced its collaborative engagement with MassRobotics. Through this collaboration, TCS aims to support MassRobotics’ mission to foster robotics innovation by engaging with startups, researchers, and industry leaders exploring applications focused on sectors such as retail, travel, transportation, hospitality, and consumer products.

“We are excited to partner with TCS to bring innovative robotics solutions to market faster and more efficiently,” stated Tom Ryden, executive director of MassRobotics. “TCS’s global reach and deep technological expertise will complement our mission to support robotics innovation and create new avenues for growth in industries that are adopting robotics solutions.”

As part of this initiative, TCS will have an on-site presence at MassRobotics’ facility in Boston. This will allow TCS to directly collaborate with innovative robotics startups, research institutions, and industry leaders.

The company also plans to engage with MassRobotics’ community by providing technical expertise, mentorship, and industry insights. In return, it will get exposure to emerging robotics trends and innovations, such as physical AI and robotics for specialized sectors.

The collaboration will rely on Tata’s deep expertise in AI, machine learning, and automation to advance robotics for both technical and commercial applications across industries where robots can enhance human work.

Boston-based MassRobotics is a nonprofit robotics hub dedicated to accelerating innovation and adoption in the field of robotics. The organization provides entrepreneurs and startups with the workspace and networking they need to successfully develop, prototype, test, and commercialize the next generation of robotics and connected devices.

The project will focus on several key initiatives aimed at fostering growth in the robotics sector, including:

  • Joint research and development Initiatives: TCS will collaborate on new robotics technologies to address emerging challenges in automation and AI.
  • Industry solutions: MassRobotics and TCS plan to develop industry-specific robotics applications in sectors such as retail, travel, transportation, hospitality, and consumer products, and more.
  • Startup ecosystem: The partners will support early-stage robotics startups with access to Tata’s global resources, technology platforms, and expertise.
  • Innovation and commercialization: The project is intended to help bridge the gap between innovative research and real-world applications, ensuring that groundbreaking technologies reach the market faster.

“As robotics continues to gain traction across industries—from retail to transportation—the potential to transform businesses and society is immense,” said Krishnan Ramanujam, president of the Consumer Business Group at TCS.

“Working alongside MassRobotics, TCS aims to accelerate the development of cutting-edge solutions that will not only streamline operations, but also deliver new levels of innovation and efficiency,” he added. “Together, we are helping to shape a world where robotics and intelligent automation empower industries and enrich lives.”

TCS said it has developed strong capabilities in robotics,, automation, and AI, to help clients optimize operations and enhance productivity. It has expertise in developing autonomous mobile robots (AMRs) and collaborative robots that can work alongside people to improve efficiency and safety.

With more than 46,000 associates and 32 sales, delivery, and data center locations across North America, TCS is a partner for half of the Fortune 500. The company said this collaboration demonstrates its commitment to fostering technological advancement in North America.

MassRobotics a strategic partner for Robotics Summit

MassRobotics will be returning to the 2025 Robotics Summit & Expo as exclusive strategic partner. The event will takes place on April 30 and May 1 at the Boston Convention and Exhibition Center. It will bring together more than 5,000 developers focused on building robots for aerospace and defense, healthcare, logistics, manufacturing, and other markets.

At the show, MassRobotics will run its 2025 Form and Function Robotics Challenge, a career fair, an Accelerator Showcase, and a presentation from the latest cohort in its Healthcare Robotics Startup Catalyst.

At the show, attendees will gain insights into the latest enabling technologies, engineering best practices, and emerging trends. There will be over 70 speakers on stage, over 10 hours of dedicated networking time, a Women in Robotics Breakfast, and more.
