Take Spot for a walk at Robotics Summit & Expo

By Brianna Wessling | April 4, 2022

You’re probably familiar with Boston Dynamics’ Spot quadruped. It’s hard to avoid hearing about it at this point. The robot is being used to inspect construction and manufacturing sites, has been a guest on The Tonight Show with Jimmy Fallon and even made an appearance in a Super Bowl ad earlier this year.

But not many people have had the opportunity to actually walk the quadruped. Now you will. At the Robotics Summit & Expo, Boston Dynamics will give attendees the chance to take Spot for a walk at Booth 149. Spaces for the unique experience will be limited, and will be able to be booked through the event app.

Kevin Blankespoor, vice president and general manager of warehouse robotics at Boston Dynamics, will be closing the show with his keynote titled The Next Generation of Mobile Robot Applications. It will take place on May 11, 2022 at 4:00 PM.

Blankespoor will tell attendees how agile, mobile robots are being used at industrial sites and warehouses, highlighting Spot’s use cases in the construction, oil and gas and energy industries. Blankespoor will also discuss how vision-enabled mobile robots can be used for unloading trucks and shipping containers. He will describe how Boston Dynamics’ second product, Stretch, which is purpose built for case handling in warehouses, automates the critical and difficult process of truck unloading, while delivering a number of technical, business and social benefits in the process.

The Robotics Summit & Expo will feature 100-plus exhibitors, 50-plus speakers, the MassRobotics Engineering Career Fair, a Design for Additive Manufacturing Workshop, and networking receptions. Full conference passes are $795, while expo-only passes are just $100. Academic discounts are available and academic full conference rates are $295. Register today.

Co-Located Events
The Robotics Summit & Expo will be co-located with the Healthcare Robotics Engineering Forum, a conference focused on easing and speeding the development of the next generation of healthcare robotics solutions. Also co-located with the Robotics Summit event is DeviceTalks Boston, the premier industry event for medical technology professionals, currently in its ninth year. Both events attract engineering and business professionals from a broad range of healthcare and medical technology backgrounds.
