Surgical robots in the spotlight at the Healthcare Robotics Engineering Forum

One of the most promising areas of healthcare and medical robotics is robot-assisted surgery. From greater precision in minimally invasive procedures to the application of artificial intelligence, augmented reality, and 5G networks, surgeons and patients can benefit from new developments. The Healthcare Robotics Engineering Forum, which will be at the Santa Clara Convention Center on Dec. 9-10, will include discussions about advances in surgical robots.

Ken Goldberg, UC Berkeley surgical robots

Ken Goldberg

The Healthcare Robotics Engineering Forum program will feature keynote presentations on surgical robots.

Ken Goldberg will speak about how recent advances in surgical robots and machine learning can increase the consistency of procedures, reduce surgeon fatigue, and enable long-distance telesurgery. Goldberg is professor of industrial engineering and operations research at the University of California, Berkeley.

Carla Pugh

Carla Pugh

Carla Pugh, professor of surgery and director of the Technology Enabled Clinical Improvement Center at the Stanford University School of Medicine, will talk about how analytics, haptics, sensing, and simulation can empower surgeons, reduce risks, and improve patient outcomes.

Surgical robot sessions at the Healthcare Robotics Engineering Forum

In addition to the keynotes, the following sessions and panels at the international event will focus on surgical robots:

  • Enabling Access and Accuracy in Surgical Robots
  • Tailoring Surgical Robotics to Maximize Clinical Value
  • Validating Robotic Solutions With 3D-Printed Anatomies
  • Clinical Design in Medical Robotics: Get it Right!
  • Advanced Motion-Control Solutions for Healthcare Applications
  • Designing Healthcare Robotics Solutions for Usability, Safety, and Compliance
  • Surgical Robotics — A Journey From Startup to Commercial and Clinical Success
  • Optimizing Control Technologies for Surgical Robotics

About the Healthcare Robotics Engineering Forum

The inaugural Healthcare Robotics Engineering Forum is designed to give robotics developers opportunities to learn from technology, business, and clinical experts and peers. The goal is to advance the development and manufacture of commercially successful healthcare products and services.

The conference is organized into four tracks, and the exposition floor will provide attendees with direct access to the latest robotics design and development tools.

The event will also include networking opportunities, and it is co-located with DeviceTalks West, which focuses on medical devices.

Register now for the Healthcare Robotics Engineering Forum. Academic, association, group, and media discounts are available.
