Samsung is joining the likes of Dyson and others claiming current robot vacuums on the market aren’t powerful enough. At the International CES 2015, Samsung is showing its POWERbot VR9000 robot vacuum, which Samsung claims offers “suction up to 60 times more powerful than conventional robot vacuums” thanks to its Digital Inverter Motor.
The POWERbot VR9000 robot vacuum features Samsung’s CycloneForce technology that creates a strong centrifugal force that circulates dust particles through the inner chamber so dirt and debris is separated from the air and sieved into the outer chamber. As a result, the filter is kept clean, which lessens clogging over time.
The machine has an enlarged drum brush that covers a wide area and has side brushes to get into those pesky corners. The POWERbot VR9000 works on a variety of surfaces, including carpet, hardwood and laminate.
Samsung’s high-performance FullView Sensor helps the POWERbot VR9000 understand its surroundings, avoiding small obstacles and blind spots. And the Visionary Mapping Plus System, consisting of chips, sensors and a digital camera, map your home so the POWERbot VR9000 can create the most efficient cleaning path.
If it does miss a spot, the VR9000 can be guided back to a specific location using a wireless remote control. Once cleaning is complete, or the battery is low, the POWERbot VR9000 automatically returns to its docking station to recharge.
The Powerbot VR9000 comes in two colors: Airborne Copper or Deep Blue. The robot vacuum is available in parts of Europe for £800.00. No word on pricing or availability elsewhere.
