Industrial robotics users have typically turned to vendors or integrators to deal with upgrades to their systems, let alone used robots. RobotsTrader.com launched last month to connect sellers and buyers of pre-owned robots. The classified website claimed that it provides “unparalleled efficiency, transparency, and reliability.”

In the past, the major robot manufacturers and their channel partners handled specific product lines, but RobotsTrader.com said there has not been an industry-specific marketplace for used robots.

It added that e-commerce platforms such as eBay and Machinio add fees that can increase costs for both sellers and buyers. For instance, it said that eBay charges a total sale price fee of up to 13.25%, so a sale of a used robot priced at $20,000 could cost sellers over $2,650 in fees.

RobotsTrader.com asserted that it offers “a straightforward and affordable pricing structure. For just $40 per month, sellers can list their used robots with no additional fees, and the first listing is completely free.”

“The used robots market is fragmented, with buyers and sellers scattered across forums and auction sites,” the privately funded marketplace told The Robot Report. “RobotsTrader.com changes that by uniting everything in one place—think AutoTrader meets NerdWallet for pre-owned robotics.”

Selling process is designed for ease of use, to aid adoption

RobotsTrader.com said it can help businesses upgrade their equipment, sellers find new owners for their used robots, and integrators find cost-effective and high-quality systems. The company said it streamlines the process of selling and buying pre-owned robots, helping with the wider adoption of automation.

“A streamlined market for used robots lowers the cost and complexity of automation, making it easier for businesses to adopt robotics,” it noted. “RobotsTrader.com removes barriers by creating an efficient, all-in-one platform for buying and selling pre-owned robots—helping the automation industry grow faster.”

“RobotsTrader.com is here to educate and simplify the used robots market, breaking down barriers to automation,” the site added. “Our platform makes it easier and more affordable for businesses to adopt robotics and fuel industry growth.”

Steps to follow to use RobotsTrader.com

  1. Create an account: Users can create an account in a few steps, gaining access to a platform designed with ease of use in mind for buying and selling used robots.
  2. Post an ad: Sellers can list their used robots quickly and easily, asserted RobotsTrader.com. The platform allows for detailed descriptions, photos, and the ability to set a price, ensuring visibility for each listing of pre-owned robots.
  3. Receive offers: Once a listing is live, the platform is designed to ensure smooth communications between buyers and sellers, ensuring that offers for used robots are received and reviewed efficiently.
  4. Finalize the sale: Once a suitable offer is accepted, the sale is completed directly between the buyer and the seller. RobotsTrader.com said it provides a trusted environment for these transactions, with customer support available for assistance at any stage of the process.

Marketplace offers a range of robots

RobotsTrader.com features six-axis industrial robot arms, collaborative robots, Delta robots, SCARA systems, and autonomous mobile robots (AMRs). It also offers painting tools, accessories, and other types of robots from a variety of manufacturers, such as ABB, FANUC, and Universal Robots.

In other online robotics markets, HowToRobot last year merged with Gain & Co. to offer robotics advice, and Vention this month expanded the number of components on its site. Universal Robots has its UR+ ecosystem of partner suppliers and integrators.

“Whether you’re seeking robotic arms or other used robots, RobotsTrader.com makes it easier than ever to find the right used robotic equipment for your business at a fraction of the cost of new robots,” claimed RobotsTrader.com, which wants to be a “one-stop shop for robotics.”
