Robot support company Robotiq launched a new software product called Insights to boost performance of Universal Robots, the company announced yesterday.
Insights is a web application that allows robot operators to monitor how productive their robots are based on key performance indicators. Using the data on cycles times and failures in the production line, operators can more effectively deploy robotic cells, improve production efficiency and output and enhance their products’ quality.
“Manufacturing engineers face a lack of visibility into their robot’s operational performance,” Robotiq CTO Jean-Philippe Jobin said in a prepared statement. “If you ask them how productive was their robot today, they do not have what it takes to answer. Insights gives real-time performance metrics, advanced optimization analytics and alerts. Altogether, this data allows engineers to react quickly to any weakness and reduce operational costs.”
In addition, the Insights Dashboard provides operators with the real-time status of their robots and production alerts to maintain operations. The company hopes the software will provide a significant return on investment and help manufacturers plan future automation projects.
Robotiq uses a lean robotics methodology to provide products and services that facilitate the installation and use of robotics in manufacturing.
