RBRlogo In January 2021, Boston Dynamics released Spot Enterprise, a new hardware and software feature set for the company's Spot quadrupedal robot that allows for long distance, remote deployments. Spot’s upgrade includes self-charging capabilities via a docking station, advanced hardware for improved safety, and support for post mission data download. Also included with Spot Enterprise is Scout, web-based software that allows users to control Spot remotely.

Analysis:
While Boston Dynamics has little competition when it comes to commercialized quadrupedal robots, the company continues to improve the Spot platform. The Spot Enterprise self-charging feature reduces the need for human intervention and provides for greater operational flexibility, while the Scout software offering allows users to control the Spot quadruped from anywhere network access is available.
