Seoul Robotics recently released its first products, a family “Lidar Processing Units,” each engineered for different application types, named Discovery. Discovery, which is sensor agnostic, is powered by the company’s proprietary SENSR computer vision software, which uses machine learning applied to 3D LiDAR data for object detection, tracking, classification.

Analysis:
LiDAR technology is commonly used in self-driving cars and mobile robots for object detection and autonomous navigation. A number of companies provide LiDAR hardware, LiDAR software, or both, for these markets. Often expensive and proprietary, these siloed systems have limited applicability for many emerging applications and use cases – IoT environment monitoring for example – that could benefit from 3D sensing.

With its Discovery product line, Seoul Robotics offers a cost effective, powerful and efficient AI-powered 3D sensing solution that is compatible with over 70 different 3D sensors from various suppliers such as Velodyne, LiDAR, Ouster, Innoviz Technologies.
