LAS VEGAS – I’m 31 years old, and I’ve never been fishing. I’ve never seen the allure. But, finally, fishing might be fun thanks to PowerVision‘s new PowerRay underwater robot that helps you find your next fish.
Designed for freshwater, saltwater or ice fishing, PowerRay can dive 98 feet underwater and stay there for up to four hours – not that anyone would ever fish for four hours straight. PowerRay captures video and images with its integrated 4K camera and beaming them back to the surface via WiFi to you iOS or Android mobile device. The app lets you control the robot and its camera and gives you position information and other data to help you find fish.
PowerRay also has an optional “Fishfinder” sonar component that allows the robot to detect fish another 131 below it. The PowerRay Fishfinder also includes an internal fish luring light with a hue of blue.
This is where the real fun begins. You can use PowerVision’s VR Goggles that respond to head tilting for a truly immersive experience. Users can control left turn, right turn, up, and down.
“Recreational fishing is one of the lifestyle areas that has not seen major technology breakthroughs,” says Wally Zheng, CEO of PowerVision Technology Group. “By introducing PowerRay, PowerVision is completely changing the way we have been fishing in the past 7,000 years.”
The PowerRay will be available for pre-order starting February 27, 2016. PowerVision hasn’t yet announced a price.
