Earlier this month, Odense Robotics, in collaboration with Aalborg University, opened a robotics hub in Aalborg, Denmark. The fifth and final hub in the country completes Odense Robotics’ national setup. Odense Robotics has already established hubs in Aarhus, Copenhagen, Odense and Sonderborg.

The hub will provide robotics, automation and drone startups, scaleups and SMEs with opportunities for growth and innovation. It will work with robotics companies in the northern region of Jutland.

Odense Robotics works closely with Aalborg University, which can offer companies in the area extensive knowledge about drones, mobile robots, exoskeletons and Industry 4.0. Odense Robotics plans to host projects and events and create networks bringing together companies, organizations and knowledge institutions.

“We are happy to partner with Odense Robotics to establish the Aalborg Hub and see a clear benefit in collaborating with robotics, automation and drone companies in the area. Aalborg University’s researchers have extensive knowledge within many topics, including exoskeletons, flexible automation, Industry 4.0, AI in robotics, large scale drones and 5G enabled distributed robots,” Professor Thomas Bak, head of the department of electronic systems at Aalborg University, said. “We look forward to sharing our knowledge with companies and are excited that the new hub will bring us closer to the other hubs across the country, strengthening the entire Danish robotic ecosystem.”

One of the companies within the network of the new hub, MyDefence, offers counter-drone products for detecting and jamming drones for civilians and the military.

“At MyDefence, we are very happy that the Odense Robotics Aalborg Hub has now gone ‘live’. The creation of a local hub for companies within drones, counter drones, robotics, automation will create even more opportunities for us to matchmake and learn from each other’s experiences within new technologies, business and research,” Dan Hermansen, CEO of MyDefence, said.

The new hub is located at NOVI Science Park. Odense Robotics is a national cluster organization for robot, drone and automation businesses.
