Welcome to Episode 82 of The Robot Report Podcast, which brings conversations with robotics innovators straight to you. Join us each week for discussions with leading roboticists, innovative robotics companies, and other key members of the robotics community.
In this episode, Mike Oitzman and I talk with Niels Jul Jacobsen, CEO of Danish startup Capra Robotics. We discuss the company’s innovative mobile robotics platform that uses a suspension system and unique wheel frame. He talks about why Capra uses ROS 2, its work on developing indoor-outdoor applications and more.
Niels also shares lessons learned from scaling and selling Mobile Industrial Robots (MiR), an AMR developer he founded in 2013. He tells the story about using his son’s Legos to build the first model of a MiR AMR and how RoboBusiness 2012 inspired him to launch the company.
Earlier in 2022, Capra Robotics was named the Danish robotics company of the year. It beat out Blue Ocean Robotics and Universal Robots, among others. Here is a video that demonstrates a concept Capra is working on with some partners:
