MFE Rentals to resell and rent Sarcos Robotics Guardian S inspection robot

By The Robot Report Staff | July 14, 2020

Sarcos Robotics today announced that it has partnered with MFE Rentals Inc. to give MFE’s customers premier access to its Guardian S robotic crawler system, which is designed to navigate difficult terrain that previous robots were unable to access.

Salt Lake City, Utah-based Sarcos said Guardian S has a compact, slim, and waterproof design and can traverse vertical ferromagnetic surfaces, stairs, tanks, and culverts. The robot, which was created and built in the U.S., can maintain real-time two-way video, voice, and data communication while conducting inspections. This technology can provide operators with a detailed view of terrain and structures from a safe distance, said the company.

With extended run times and long-range wireless operations for inspections and remote surveillance, Guardian S is suitable for commercial, industrial, public safety, and defense applications, said Sarcos. The company was a 2020 RBR50 innovation award winner.

MFE Rentals to widen Guardian S deployments

As an official rental and resale partner of Sarcos Robotics, Houston-based MFE Rentals said the addition of the Guardian S to its equipment arsenal will save customers time and money.

“The Guardian S robot has six cameras and magnetic tracks, so it can crawl up metal platforms and has unique features for traveling over obstacles,” said Susan Nulph, sales manager at MFE Rentals. “Its potential to save time and money while avoiding putting humans in areas they couldn’t or shouldn’t safely go is exceptional.”

“MFE Rentals has extensive knowledge and experience offering tools and services for industrial inspections,” said Jim Ryder, chief revenue officer of Sarcos Robotics. “We look forward to utilizing their expertise and relationships to deploy the Guardian S robot across a variety of industries for remote visual inspections.”

The Guardian S robot is now available for rentals. For more information, go to the Web sites of MFE Rentals or Sarcos Robotics.
