LEMO this month launched the REDEL SP IP68 Series, its next-generation, high-performance connectors. The company said it engineered them for medical, test and measurement, and uncrewed aerial vehicle or drone applications.

“The REDEL SP IP68 Series represents a major step forward in connector technology,” stated Elisa Rossier, product manager at LEMO. “By combining resin-free IP68 sealing with our patented Push-Pull system and high-density design, we are providing customers with connectors that are reliable, easy to use, and fully compliant with the strictest medical and industrial standards. The real benefit is peace of mind: secure, durable, and intuitive connectivity even in the most demanding environments.”

For more than 77 years, LEMO said it has been designing reliable precision connectors and cables. The Écublens, Switzerland-based company added that its systems are used in a variety of challenging application environments including industrial and machines, defense, audio-video, and telecommunications.

LEMO said it offers more than 90,000 combinations of products, and that number that continue to grow through custom-specific designs. The company currently serves over 150,000 customers in over 80 countries.

LEMO enhances performance for critical applications

LEMO asserted that its innovative resin-free IP68 sealing delivers fully watertight and dustproof performance without the need for resin or potting. This simplifies assembly, ensuring compliance and maintaining high reliability even in the most demanding uses, it said.

Constructed from FDA-certified PPSU (polyphenylsulphone), the REDEL SP IP68 connectors are lightweight yet extremely durable, claimed the company. It added that they are resistant to repeated sterilization, harsh cleaning agents, and demanding environmental conditions.

The patented internal Push-Pull latching is a flexible insert system for both plug and receptacle. LEMO said these features deliver secure, ergonomic, and watertight connections. With up to 22 contacts in a compact Ø15.5 mm footprint, they provide high-density connectivity in tight spaces without compromising handling, the company said.

LEMO promises user benefits

  • Resin-free IP68 sealing: Watertight and dustproof when mated, no resins required, according to LEMO
  • Patented internal push-pull: Protects designs and preserves system integrity against imitation.
  • Compact and high-density: Up to 22 contacts in Ø15.5 mm
  • Durable and reliable: PPSU construction, resistant to sterilization and harsh cleaning
  • Lightweight yet robust: – Engineered to withstand the most demanding environments
  • Unique design: Flexible contact insert system
  • Reinforced mechanical shock resistance: Ensures exceptional durability and extended

Streamlined connector is now available

Achieving a fully sealed IP68 solution requires advanced cable solutions and expert assembly, noted LEMO. The company said its custom BioCompatic medical-grade cables offer flexibility, biocompatibility, sterilization resistance, and signal integrity.

Combined with innovative cable-clamping technology, LEMO said its robust, repeatable, regulation-compliant assemblies can simplify installation while ensuring safety. ISO 13485-certified manufacturing for medical devices provides plug-and-play harnesses that merge connector reliability with expert cable assembly for long-term performance.

The REDEL SP IP68 Series is now available globally directly from LEMO and its network of authorized distributors and partners.
