LEGO at CES 2016 launched WeDo 2.0, a new version of the WeDo kit designed to introduce elementary school students to robotics, engineering and programming.

WeDo 2.0 comes with a number of Lego bricks and uses a drag-and-drop interface for writing basic applications. The kit also includes a Bluetooth Low Energy-based hub that connects to a motor, as well as motion and tilt sensors.

The WeDo 2.0 kits are now available in the US and UK for Android and iOS smartphones and tablets, PCs and Macs. LEGO says Chromebook support will come in the second half of 2016.

LEGO also has a WeDo 2.0 Curriculum Pack that includes 16 projects to tackle and more than 40 hours of content, plus resources such as learning grids, integrated assessment tools and ideas for differentiation. The Curriculum Pack, which you can preview here (PDF), is also designed to help teachers facilitate the learning experience.

The educational kits cost about $2,000 per classroom.
