HP 3D Printing workshop gives engineers hands-on experience

By Steve Crowe | April 7, 2022

Leading up to the Robotics Summit & Expo, Healthcare Robotics Engineering Forum and DeviceTalks Boston events, join HP 3D Printing for a unique workshop on designing for HP’s Multi Jet Fusion (MJF) 3D printing technology to accelerate time to market, drive down cost, and deliver quality parts.

This “Design for Additive Manufacturing Workshop” will be catered towards attendees in both the robotics & medical device industries and the “real-world” use cases featured in the workshop will be focused on applications in both industries.

You can register for this free workshop during the registration process. It is free to attendees of either event. It will take place May 9 from 10 AM-4 PM at the Boston Convention and Exhibition Center.

Here is what you will learn:

  • How to identify and select the right applications for additive manufacturing across your product lifecycle
  • Training on the fundamentals of effective design for MJF
  • How the process works and design strategies for MJF process optimization
  • How the materials behave and what to consider when designing for each of them
  • The new design paradigms that are enabled by additive manufacturing and the required mindset change
  • How to design for value maximization (process and cost)
  • Training on the fundamentals of effective design for MJF
  • Live Design for Additive Manufacturing (DfAM) demo and application examples to inspire you

Here is the agenda for the workshop:

Liz Stortstrom, a 3D Printing Application Engineer, will also be speaking during the Robotics Summit & Expo. The session, “3D Printed End-of-Arm Tools: Advantages, Applications, & Use Cases,” will explore the different types of additive manufacturing (AM), the advantages of AM over traditional manufacturing methods, the top AM applications for industrial automation & robotics, and share real-world use cases.

Stortstrom has a background in mechanical design and joined HP to support the development of the MJF technology. Stortstrom now uses that experience to help people take their businesses to the next level with additive manufacturing. She holds a BS & MS in mechanical engineering from Carnegie Mellon University.

The Robotics Summit & Expo will feature 100-plus exhibitors, 50-plus speakers, the MassRobotics Engineering Career Fair, this Design for Additive Manufacturing Workshop, networking receptions and more. Full conference passes are $795, while expo-only passes are just $100. Academic discounts are available and academic full conference rates are $295. Register today.

Co-Located Events
The Robotics Summit & Expo will be co-located with the Healthcare Robotics Engineering Forum, a conference focused on easing and speeding the development of the next generation of healthcare robotics solutions. Also co-located with the Robotics Summit event is DeviceTalks Boston, the premier industry event for medical technology professionals, currently in its ninth year. Both events attract engineering and business professionals from a broad range of healthcare and medical technology backgrounds.
