We’re big fans of drones here at Robotics Trends. But we understand there are plenty of people out there who are anti-drone.

So does NoFlyZone.org, a new organization that allows you to register your address online to create a no-fly zone over your property, according to a report from TechCrunch.

After you enter your address, NoFlyZone.org creates a geo-fence that communicates with drone manufacturers and their software to keep drones away from your registered airspace.

TechCrunch reports NoFlyZone.org is a joint effort between the following drone manufacturers that have already agreed to honor your no-fly zone request: EHANG, Horizon Hobby, DroneDeploy, YUNEEC, HEXO+, PixiePath and RCFlyMaps.

There are existing apps that tell you where you can’t fly a drone, such as Hover and RCFlyMaps. NoFlyZone.org seems to be the first effort of its kind to easily create a no-fly zone, which might help ease some people’s uncertainties over drones. But the website does have some flaws that need to be address. As Yahoo points out, anyone can register any address without showing any paperwork. And you’re limited to one location per email address.

Recently, there’s been a lot of talk about flight restrictions with drones. In late Jan. 2015, a drunken government employee crashed his DJI Phantom drone into the grounds of the White House. DJI then added no-fly zone perimeter around the Washington, D.C. area to hopefully prevent this from reoccurring in the future. However, there were bugs reported with the update, so DJI pulled it to make some changes.
