Ewaybot Technology’s MoRo robot assistant can grasp and handle objects around your home to help simplify your life. However, it costs $30,000 so it’ll likely start as a robot for academic research.
LAS VEGAS – There will be a ton of household robots debuting at CES 2017, but Ewaybot Technology’s MoRo human-sized assistant robot is the most advanced of the bunch.
And it should be. It costs $30,000.
Ewaybot, a startup founded in China in 2015, says MoRo “is designed for academic research and education, business activities, as well as domestic assistance,” but we can’t see anyone not named Mark Cuban spending that kind of dough for a home robot. So it’ll start as a robot for academic research.
MoRo stands about 47 inches tall and weighs 77 lbs with an 8-hour battery life; Ewaybot says auto-recharging is coming in the near future. MoRo can grasp and handle objects, including everything from a bottle of water to tissues. Its shoulders can move up and down, and MoRo’s body is covered in a flame retardant ABS case.
With a combination of Intel RealSense camera and a 2-DOF head, MoRo has a 360 degree field-of-view with no blind spots. With real-time voice control, users could interact with Moro in natural language. MoRo can navigate both indoor and outdoor environments with its differential drive base and hybrid sensors.
MoRo is powered by Ewaybot’s EwayOS, but it also supports interfacing with the Robotic Operating System (ROS).
Ewaybot says that its demos at tonight’s Pepcom pre-CES event were very limited due to site constraints, which does regularly happen with these shows. So check out the video above for a better idea of what MoRo can do. Ewaybot will be in Eureka Park in booth #51450.
And if you have a spare $30,000 lying around, good for you.
