GoPro has revealed that its first camera-equipped drone will be named “Karma.” The drone is expected to be released some time in 2016.
GoPro released a video (watch above) that uses the same footage from the video that first teased the drone. However, this latest video is titled “GoPro: Karma is Coming,” giving away the name.
Other than the name, GoPro has done a great job keeping details about its drone under wraps. Reports have speculated it will feature 4K resolution video capture and both drone and image stabilization.
Many are equating the name Karma to fate, meaning it was fate for GoPro to have a drone. Nothing has been confirmed, but it’s rumored GoPro enlisted the help of DJI to build the drone. DJI and GoPro, according to Forbes, were once in negotiations to build a drone together. Due to disagreements about the business plan, however, a deal was never reached.
