Steve Crowe is out on vacation this week, so it’s a solo show this week.
This week, I spoke with Florian Pestoni and Joe Wieciek about the origins and mission of The Robot Operations Group (affectionately known as RobOPS). This is an informal group where anyone who’s interested in the issues and problems with scaling robot fleets from 10 to thousands of units is invited to join the conversation. The group holds monthly meetups and maintains a discourse server for the group. You’ll find links to these resources on their homepage.
I sit down for a conversation about what it’s like to participate on a standards committee with Mike Bearman from Vecna Robotics. Mike represented Vecna in the creation of the recently released ANSI/RIA R15.08 mobile robotic safety standard. If you’ve always wondered what it’s like to grind through the creation of a standard, then you’ll find this conversation enlightening. We also talk about what it takes to be compliant with R15.08 standard and how Vecna AMRs meet that standard.

Love your website! Very useful information and keeps me up to date on the latest in the AMR space.
You really need to quit with every page having a pop-up add that has to be clicked through. I’m sure you guys make money off of every ad on the page, but every page having an ad that won’t let you do anything really creates friction when using your website. Please consider removing them.

Justin, thanks for your feedback. We need to have a balance, to be honest, but I’ll pass along your feedback as we’re always striving to keep our readers happy.
