Einride raises $100M to scale autonomous freight deployments

Einride AB, a developer of digital, electric, and autonomous systems for road freight, yesterday said it raised about $100 million in funding from a mix of existing and new investors. The company said the funding will power its next phase of growth as it scales the deployment of its self-driving trucks, deepens technology development, and continues expanding with customers.

“I am excited and proud for the continued trust our investors have placed in us,” stated Roozbeh Charli, CEO of Einride. “This funding allows us to grow with our customer base and accelerate the deployment of our autonomous freight technology. It’s a strong signal of confidence in both our team and our unique position in the market.”

The funding round came a week after Einride announced that its electric, autonomous vehicle completed the company’s cross-border operation without a human driver onboard. The self-driving truck crossed the border between Norway and Sweden at Ørje, Norway.

Founded in 2016, Einride designs, develops, and deploys freight technology systems to accelerate the transition to future-proofed transportation. Its platform includes connected electric and autonomous heavy-duty vehicles, charging infrastructure, and an intelligent freight operating system.

Today, the Stockholm-based company operates a fleet of heavy-duty electric trucks servicing Global Fortune 500 companies across the U.S. and Europe.

Einride aims to build a robust freight ecosystem

Investors include EQT Ventures, one of Einride’s largest shareholders; a global asset management company based on the West Coast; and other investors and shareholders. The $100 million also includes an investment made earlier this year by IonQ to develop quantum applications that address large-scale logistics problems that have challenged traditional computing.

“We believe Einride is building the most complete and forward-looking freight ecosystem on the market today,” said Ted Persson, partner at EQT Ventures. “Nordic tech has a habit of being underestimated until it quietly rewires an entire industry. That’s exactly what Einride is doing in freight.”

This raise follows a year of sustained growth for Einride, with its net sales more than doubling in 2024. The company also expanded into Austria and the United Arab Emirates, and is growing its footprint with global shippers across Europe and North America.

Einride said it aims to develop an autonomous freight ecosystem. This will include heavy-duty electric trucks, autonomous systems, and its proprietary Saga planning optimization platform. Saga integrates advanced digital planning with electric and autonomous vehicles to address the fragmentation, high emissions, and labor shortages that continue to impact the freight industry.
