Digital manufacturing for robotics can yield economic benefits, explains Fictiv co-founder

By The Robot Report Staff | October 23, 2020

Digital manufacturing FictivOne thing is clear from the first half of this year: Manufacturing as we know it must change, according to Nate Evans, co-founder of Fictiv. In the wake of severe supply chain disruption caused by COVID-19, on the heels of a trade war with China, OEMs are seeking alternatives to the old way of doing things for a more resilient future. Digital manufacturing for robotics is one solution, he said.

Eighty-seven percent of manufacturing leaders surveyed in Fictiv’s “2020 State of Manufacturing Report” confirmed that digital transformation initiatives are a high priority, and 99% declared that increasing supply chain resilience is a top focus.

In contrast, however, only 14% reported that they have well-funded digital manufacturing initiatives, and 81% said they are facing difficulties finding digitization expertise.

What is the path forward?

At 2:00 p.m. EST on Monday, Oct. 26, 2020, Evans will explore the quantifiable economic impact of digital manufacturing ecosystems as a cost-efficient, low-risk bridge to digital transformation. The centerpiece of this discussion will be Fictiv’s case study of HEBI Robotics and the economic impact this transformation had on HEBI’s bottom line as well as its time to market.
