BOW is a University of Sheffield spinout designing a robotics platform that aims to simplify the development of robotic applications.

Thompson and Camilleri discuss the challenges in the robotics industry, the features of the BOW software development kit (SDK), and the company’s business model.

The conversation also touches on partnerships, integration with the Robot Operating System (ROS), and the future of robotics, particularly in relation to artificial intelligence and task-oriented development.

Serve Robotics begins autonomous deliveries in Dallas

Serve Robotics Inc. last week announced the launch of its service in the Dallas-Fort Worth metropolitan area. The company said the strategic expansion, in continued partnership with Uber Eats, represents a major milestone in its plan to deploy AI-powered delivery robots across the U.S. by the end of 2025.

Zoox expands autonomous vehicle testing to Los Angeles

Zoox Inc. this week announced that it is starting street-mapping operations in Los Angeles as the first step to deploying its robotaxis in the coming years.

The company plans to soon begin mapping missions in Los Angeles, paving the way for autonomous trials later this summer. This initial mapping phase is a crucial step in preparation for autonomous trials, which Zoox said it expects to begin later this summer.

BRINC raises $75M in funding for emergency response drones 

BRINC Drones Inc. has raised $75 million in new funding. The Seattle-based company said it plans to use the capital to accelerate the development and production of its emergency-response drones.

BRINC claimed that its systems enable drones to be deployed instantly to first-responder situations while police and fire teams are en route. The company said the new funding will enable it to meet increasing demand from public safety agencies, advance research and development for next-generation drone technology, and expand its workforce to support continued growth and innovation.

Waymo begins officially mapping Japan

Waymo LLC plans to collect data in Tokyo with test rides operated by human drivers, according to Reuters. This is the first time the Alphabet Inc. self-driving unit and 2025 RBR50 Robot of the Year winner will operate its cars on public roads outside the U.S., after conducting tests in multiple cities.
