Binder USA LP last week expanded its circular connector portfolio with the new M9 Series. The company said the new series offers a compact, robust, and versatile system for reliable electrical connections in space-constrained applications across industrial automation, medical technology, and test and measurement environments.

“Our M9 connectors have proven to be exceptionally reliable across a wide range of applications over many years,” said Sebastian Ader, product manager at binder. “Thanks to their robust design and versatile usability, they will continue to be the right solution for compact technical applications well into the future.”

binder USA is a subsidiary of binder Group, a global manufacturer of circular connectors, custom cordsets, and LED lights. The company said its products are used worldwide in industrial environments for factory automation, process control, and medical applications.

The quality management system at binder is ISO 9001 and 14001-certified. The Camarillo, Calif.-based company said its focus on solutions and customer service differentiate it from the competition.

M9 Series offers flexibility, space savings

The M9 Series 702, 711, and 712 offers a wide range of protection levels, connection types, and technical configurations. Its options include IP40 to IP67 ratings, shielded or unshielded designs, and both field-wireable and overmolded versions.

Despite its compact footprint, binder said these connectors feature a robust screw-locking system to ensure secure, stable connections even in harsh environments with vibration, moisture, or dust.

The M9 Series provides customers maximum flexibility, asserted binder. The Series 711 offers field-attachable and panel-mounted connectors with IP40 protection for standard environments.

The Series 702 and 712 offer IP67-rated, shielded designs for demanding industrial conditions. Series 702 is available in overmolded versions with variable cable lengths, while Series 712 features panel-mounted and field-attachable options.

All series are available with two to eight pins and with metal or plastic housings, depending on requirements. This design enables tailored solutions based on environmental conditions, weight considerations, and EMC (electromagnetic compatibility) requirements.

binder listed the M9’s technical specifications:

  • Connector type: Connection cables, panel-mounted connectors, field-attachable, control cabinet feed-throughs
  • Design: Plug or socket
  • Number of contacts: 2 to 8 poles
  • Available: As field-attachable or pre-assembled versions
  • Material: Metal or plastic housings
  • Protection rating: up to IP67

binder builds for demanding use cases

The M9 connectors are suitable for applications requiring high protection ratings and reliable signal transmission within limited installation spaces, according to binder. In medical technology, they are used in mobile diagnostic and analysis devices.

In industrial automation, they support signal and data transmission in compact control units and sensor systems.

Additional use cases include testing and measurement systems, transportation, logistics, and automated guided vehicles (AGVs), where secure and stable connections are critical.

“Our M9 connectors have proven to be exceptionally reliable across a wide range of applications over many years,” said Sebastian Ader, product manager at binder. “Thanks to their robust design and versatile usability, they will continue to be the right solution for compact technical applications well into the future.”

binder manufactures its miniature connectors using automated processes with strict tolerances and comprehensive quality control, ensuring consistent electrical and mechanical performance. In February, binder introduced the M12 connectors for transport and agricultural applications.
