ATI Industrial Automation to show robotic end effectors and more at IMTS 2018

By Lisa Eitel | June 27, 2018

ATI Industrial Automation will be exhibiting at this year’s IMTS show in Chicago in Booth #236417. One product on display will be the manufacturer’s MC-10 Manual Tool Changer — a cost-effective solution for quickly changing tools by hand. Its compact yet robust design is optimized for collaborative robot applications.

More specifically, the MC-10 Manual Tool Changer has an ergonomic twist-collar locking mechanism to ensure a secure attachment of the tool and easy manual operation with tactile feedback. This tool changer can carry payloads of up to 22 lb and includes multiple fail-safe features that resist vibration and prevent loosening. Plus the MC-10 has integrated air pass-through connections and options to connect electrical utilities if needed.

ATI will feature the new MC-10 along with a variety of other robotic demonstrations. For more information about the MC-10 Manual Tool Changer, visit this deep link to the product page at ati-ia.com.

Design World and therobotreport.com have detailed some of ATI’s technology in the past, including:

  • ATI Compliance Device products, including a Universal Compliance Compensator (UCC) allowing axial, lateral, pivoting, and twist compliance. The UCC, Pivoting Compliance Compensator (PCC), and Lateral Compliance Compensator (LCC) let robotics grip pieces even if misaligned. All three end effectors have high repeatability and robust guidance to accommodate high moment loads.
  • Robotic collision sensors
  • Inductive Tool Changer Modules — noncontact inductive modules for communications. These modules connect up to 12 sensors over an air gap. This eliminates connections through spring probes and contacts for power and data transmission — which is most useful in harsh and wet settings.
  • Multi-axis force/torque sensing systems
  • Robotic deburring tools

ATI Industrial Automation recently expanded its Apex, N.C. headquarters to 185,000 ft2 — complete with a new engineering and robotics lab for creative development of end effectors.
