Robotic Shopping Carts
In 2016, Walmart partnered with Five Elements Robotics to reportedly develop a robotic shopping cart. Things have been quiet on this front since as neither company has discussed the partnership. But the robot Walmart and Five Elements are reportedly developing will be able to help customers locate items on their shopping lists, make purchasing suggestions, and carry their goods throughout the store.
Here’s a video that gives a look at DASH, a different robotic shopping cart that was being developed by Five Element Robotics.
The robotic shopping cart is a right idea, but an excruciatingly wrong execution.
