Deadly Giant with gentle heart

The Iron Giant is a robot equipped with deadly weaponry, and his programming causes violent reactions to any threat. However, one little boy named Hogarth develops a profound bond with the Giant that proves enduring. In the end, the Iron Giant sacrifices himself to save Hogarth and the boy’s town — overcoming his programming to protect those who mean the most.

Real working versions: The flame-breathing robot sculpture called Robot Resurrection bears a resemblance to the Iron Giant. The 28-ft-tall robot is from artist Shane Evans and is currently making the rounds at Maker Faires across the U.S.
