Mazor Robotics: Guiding the way for spinal and brain surgeries
Mazor Robotics is developing robotic-based technology for spinal and brain surgery.
The Mazor Robotics Renaissance Guidance System is a robot-assisted spinal surgical system that is minimally-invasive and improves percutaneous degenerative repair, pedicle screw fixation for complex spinal deformity and vertebral augmentation. To use the Renaissance Guidance System, surgeons create a blueprint of the surgery in a virtual 3D program. They attach the device to the patient to ensure accuracy and take two fluoroscopic images that are matched to their corresponding location on the pre-operative CT. Then the tools are guided using the Renaissance Guidance System to the location with 1.5mm accuracy.
Caesarea, Israel–based Mazor Robotics saw a 138% rise in orders for its robotic systems last year, leading to one of its most successful years fiscally.
