An automatically controlled, reprogrammable, multipurpose manipulator programmable in three or more axes, which may be either fixed in place or mobile for use in industrial automation applications.  The main customer for industrial robots – the automotive industry – is changing and diminishing.  There is a worldwide trend towards automation in the “non-automotive industry”. Robot suppliers are offering increasingly tailored solutions to these customers. The metal industry, the food and beverage industry, the glass industry, the pharmaceutical and medical devices industry, and the photovoltaic industries to name a few.
